The Good Things in Life

Being that year end lists are the norm, and the fact that I love lists, I figured I would do my own little listy thing. Not being one to conform, I decided that instead of doing my lists at the end of the year, that I would do it at the very beginning. I am such a rebel. With long hair and everything.

I'm just going to make up these lists as I go along. My memory also gets fuzzy with it comes to time, so some of this may be from 2003, and some 2004 stuff may be left out thinking it was from 2003. I fully expect Rob to point out how dumb I am so that I may learn better.

Best Album Acquired
1. Blue October: Argue With a Tree
2. Blue October: History For Sale
3. Blue October: Consent To Treatment
4. Jimmy Eat World: Futures
5. Memento: Beginnings

As you can see, Blue October completely dominated this year. Jimmy is on the list, of course, barely being beaten out by Blue. #5 was a hard pick, being a toss up with Hoobastank and Finger Eleven.

Best Book Read
1. Jeff Long: The Descent
2. Wil Wheaton: Just a Geek
3. Terry Pratchett: Mort
4. Bruce Campbell: If Chins Could Kill
5. Terry Pratchett: Sourcery

I didn't get that much reading in this year, but it was more than usual. My reading is getting a revival of sorts, climbing back to when I would read a Goosebumps book every other day. This year The Descent won, no contest at all. That book is the closest thing to perfection I have ever read. Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is probably my favorite series of books, so expect to see them even more this year. Wil and Bruce represent a bit of a leap in reading for me, as I normally don't read that kind of book. These were recommended to me and I decided to give it a try, and it was totally worth it. I read Just a Geek in two days. I couldn't put it down.

Best Movies Watched
1. Team America: World Police
2. Troy
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Hellboy
5. Spirited Away

This is a shaky category, as my memory is really fuzzy on what I've seen this year. Team America got the top spot just because it made my laugh until my arm went numb. I think Spirited Away was in 2003, but I put it up there anyway because I love it that much. Honorable mentions are King Arthur, Hero, Lost in Translation, and The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.

Best Game Played
1. King of Colosseum 2
2. World of Warcraft
3. Mario Party 6
4. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
5. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

It was been a slow year of games for me this year, other than KoC2, which is my jesus. WoW was awesome for the length that I played it, but I just can't commit the time to play an mmo anymore. The rest aren't really game of the year caliber titles for me, but as I said, it's been a slow year. I have Sin Megami, Xenosaga, and Skies of Arcadia waiting to be played, though, so this year will start with a bang.

Favorite Wrestler

1. Kensuke Sasaki
2. Hiroshi Tanahashi
3. Hiroyoshi Tenzan
4. Jushin Thunder Liger
5. Katsuyori Shibata

This one is here for myself mainly, as I doubt anyone who reads this will know who the hell I'm talking about. Sasaki wins the top spot for me this year because of his consistency. From his blood bath with Nagata, carrying Bob Sapp to a great match, his absolute war with Takayama in the G1, the 30 minute draw against Tenzan in the G1, and the beauty that is Sasaki vs. Tanahashi 11/3/04. Tanahashi, as it has been said a lot lately, became one of the best heavyweights in the world this year, and he will only keep getting better. Tenzan had an amazing year, capturing gold, and winning the G1 for the second year in a row. Liger is, well, Liger, but now he's rudo Liger, what else can I say? Last is Shibata, the true warrior full of passion and heart, I hope his broken jaw gets better soon.

That's it for now, a bunch of shit that doesn't matter to anyone, but matters to me, so it doesn't matter if it matters. I had a bunch of fun wasting your time. Happy new year :).
