I Left My Legs in Albuquerque
It took me about 10 times to type Albuquerque right....wow.
If you've seen Rob's blog lately, then you should know that He and Doug came up to my place (half a country away) for a bit, and I drove back down with em. So I'm sittin here in Rob's room, typing horribly on this alien keyboard, while he's taking a shower and his mom has to pee. Feels like home.
I don't think my body will heal correctly after this trip.
While at my place we went bowling, my first time in atleast ten years. I wont go into how well I did (can't remember if Rob pointed it out), but I managed atleast 4 good frames......out of three or so games. My ego wasn't the main casualty though, that was my arm. I'm a single 21 year old guy, you'd think I work out my right arm enough for bowling to not totally cripple it for a week.
A few days before we left for Texas, we went to go see Mae. I had never been to a concert before, and I cant think of a better band for my first show (other than Zac Maloy, or Blue October). The opening band was mainly noise to me as my ears got used to the bombardment. As the second act started my ears worked better, and I could hear pretty well. Unfortunately my eyes were working extremely well, and saw nothing but the lead singer's exposed hips flailing madly in front of me. So I took pictures.
Mae finally came on and instantly made me forget about funky haircuts and blurred man-hips. I was glad I didn't decide to gouge out my eyes during the second act, because godamn Mae was awesome. The vocals were quiet, but that didn't matter as I was supplying my own. The music was great and I really got into it, which added further detriment to my body. Rob and I were the only ones that I saw really getting into it (Doug was behind me and I didn't think to check up on him). In hindsight it probly looked pretty funny. There's the majority of the crowd mildly bobbing their heads, then my hair going everywhere as I'm in a constant state of almost falling onto Doug.
After a day of rest the time to leave was upon us. I was looking forward to it, since it would mostly be a new thing for me. As the trip went on I slowly realized that only crazy people would ever willingly take that drive more than once. Then I realized this was Rob's fourth time. I don't really know what to say about that other than wow.
As we got close to the end of our California leg of the trip, I slowly realized that we aren't stopping till we got here (Oregon to East Texas is a long drive, btw). I told them before hand that I'm okay for long trips, I used to frequently make 7 hour drives, and figured I could atleast go twice that before my legs really started causing me problems. Making the whole trip non-stop proved to be a huge test.
We made great time until the last bit where we had to make frequent poop stops. Including one where my ass thought it was a jet engine desperately trying to get in the air. Those stops ended up being my prominent memory of the drive, along with Albuquerque of course. I've never seen a color coordinated city before, especially when the colors are pink and green. I can't remember of my jet dump was before or after that, but I'm sure they were related.
All in all the drive was fun, though not one I'd like to do again. Since we've been here we've pretty much rested, with minimal physical exertion, other than the few hours of pool we played at Doug's today. Now my legs hurt. So I'm going to lay down and dream a bit.
Pictures have to wait until I get home.
