Devotee Malicant, Part 2
This was a big step. I've done the underclothes, boots, and robe, which ends up being most of the mini. Few more steps and I'm done with the main part, and can move on to basing it.
I'm very pleased with how the robe came out. Reds are a notoriously hard color to paint with, as it's so close to being too orange, or even pink if you do to much with it. I don't like the bracer on his right arm, looks incomplete. It is, in a way, since I realize now that I don't have a Bleached Bone (off-white) color as a step to lead into the white. Oh well, lessons learned for next time.
Pretty reds. I've never done red so well, so this is already a landmark mini for me. I started by basecoating the whole robe in a 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Scab Red, then worked up from Scab Red, mixing in Bloody Red as I went. I was thinking of doing a final highlight of Bloody Red, but it seemed too orange in contrast, so I held off on it.
Next up is his mask, trim, and tabard thing, which will be in blues, as well as some detail work.
